Jul 18, 2008 - I feel exactly the same way when watching her Kitri.

HelgaMaq Says:

Aug 15, 2008 - I need some Spanish words to describe her fantastic dance. Pity! I must learn them.

actor001 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Assoluta!!!Without a doubtThe way she feel the characters , she is such an amazing actrees, plus her lines, plus her technique ,plus the respect of the different styles ... do i need to say more?she is pure ART

ketinoa Says:

Aug 30, 2008 - Amen!!

academyballet Says:

Sep 13, 2008 - She was the greatest ballerina that ever lived!!!! She was the most beautiful, amazing, and touching ballerina I have ever seen and ever will see!!

ketinoa Says:

Sep 13, 2008 - Those are my exact thoughts.

helene1925 Says:

Sep 24, 2008 - Are you insane or just ignorant? Do you know anything about ballet? Ever actually danced yourself? She is not the greatest. She plods through. She's sloppy. If you can't see it, you don't know ballet. Who's the greatest? Check out Sylvie Guillem if you want to see how Kitri's Act I solo is supposed to be danced. Hopefully you will see not only is Sylvie technically superior, she actually adds poses, balances and steps that make the choreography harder. You have a lot to learn.

ketinoa Says:

Sep 24, 2008 - First of all, I danced for and spoke to Balanchine during classes and rehearsals in NYCB, so yes i have danced. I normally do not stoop to opening my opinion, but Guilem has a horrible upper body in comparison to a Kirov ballerina. Her arms and back are so unexpressive and the same can be said about her weak acting ability. She also does the Don Q solo in what seems like slow motion when it should be done very quickly. I think that you need to learn a lot and probably never will.

ketinoa Says:

Sep 24, 2008 - I have seen so many great dancers in class, rehearsing and performing and things that you could never imagine. I have seen historic ballet performances such as the final performance at the old Metropolitan Opera House. Also, I performed for NYCB when they made their first performance at the NY State Theater, their home for over 40 years. So since you think you are so knowledgeable about ballet, the great Ludmila Sakharova would insult your ballet knowledge and make you wish you could hide 4ever

ketinoa Says:

Sep 24, 2008 - Before you were ever born, I danced with more great dancers than you will ever dance with. You probably will never dance with one great dancer, but I do not know your experience in dancing. I suspect that before you were born, I saw in person, more great dancers than you will ever see in personIn the future before telling people that they have a lot to learn and asking if they ever danced, you should look at their profile to see what they say, if anything You insulted 2dancers, I an ex danc

ketinoa Says:

Sep 24, 2008 - I probably should not have mentioned the great Ludmila Sakharova because with your weak ballet knowledge, you probably never heard of her. I hope that you will learn who this great ballet personality is. She would have torn you to little pieces with her words about your lack of ballet knowledge and probably with her hands also.

HelgaMaq Says:

Sep 26, 2008 - This channel is one of the rarest places where you can watch full length private video performances of the past & nowadays. Here we're speaking about Art, Beauty, Culture. So before coming in you must learn a bit of politeness. Aproppo, if I'm not a dancer I must ask permission from you to talk about dancers? - what a funny idea,my darling! The theatre, the ballet exist for us,for public, knows it what arabesque or pas-de-de mean or not.

HelgaMaq Says:

Sep 26, 2008 - About Guillem. I can't see any sense to compare her with Mezentseva. It's like to compare of Ana Pavlova with Ulanova or Dudinskaya. Everything's different: another generation, the epoch, the style, the tradition, the school, the manner, the standards, the level of technique. For me Gullem seems better in new classical ballets like Manon, Cinderella, in modern choreography, but her lines & manner seem to modernist in parts like Aurora, Raymonda.

qbendanny1 Says:

Sep 28, 2008 - Helene 1925, You can't put Sylvie Guillem's name in the same sentence as the great Galina Mezentseva.Grow up you nasty uneducated bitch.

CONTESTAR Says:

Oct 3, 2008 - I cannot boast any of your credits in ballet knowledge but have seen some wonderful performances of the legends who were still performing or new ones starting from the 80s on.Amongst them nobody ever created the atmosphere of ecstasy and magic that was created by Mesentzeva.I would think it was only me but the audiences went mad, so I knew it wasn't my personal taste only.Once the whole theatre was screaming so wildly after her dying swan (the closest to Pavlova's) that she had to repeat it!

calbalgal Says:

Oct 4, 2008 - ketinoa everything you say is spot on thank god at least someone in the nowadays Ballet world has sense

calbalgal Says:

Oct 4, 2008 - how can YOU tell people they have a lot to learn?!?!?! what you wrote is ridculous! and IGNORANT????? you are the one bashing one of the greatest most RESPECTED Ballerinas of all time but you would know what respect is would you? even if you do have an out of wack opinion and enjoy sylvie more, try at least having some dignity to other ballerinas when you say it!

witzard101 Says:

Oct 4, 2008 - ballet is lame as. wtf.I preffer my motorbiking and soccer any day. How is ballet even still alive? I dont mean to be rude but seriously isnt it a little out dated. I duno anyone who would willingly want to go watch a ballet. We went once to a free in the park thing and laughed our heads off at the ballet, esp the guys.

ketinoa Says:

Oct 4, 2008 - My son goes dirt biking all the time and had a concussion several months ago and has a fractured shoulder now, but he enjoyed watching the ballet, Sleeping Beauty, recently. Maybe you need to see great dancers and you might be amazed and all the acrobatic feats that some of the men can do. Their jumps can be as exciting as difficult dirt bike jumps and sometimes as dangerous as dirt bike jumps. Your ballet experience was like a dirt biker watching pee wees or an inexperienced 65 or 85 rider.

treehuger501 Says:

Nov 9, 2008 - you are stupid.

panyatna Says:

Dec 18, 2008 - Making choreographer harder doesn't represent a great artist. Mezentseva is not sloppy -please realise that in saying this you are disrespecting one of the greatest ballet schools of all time. I like Guillem, she brought me to tears, but Mezentseva did also-and that was just on tv. Maybe you would also like to know that Guillem doesn't even like the role of Kitri.

espinaca79 Says:

Dec 19, 2008 - Oh dear...you are retarded...! God forgive you...

unsatura Says:

Dec 29, 2008 - Guillem is horrible as a dancer, she is a freak alright, and people like forsythe used her to freak people out. She is monodynamic and looks as though she has no understanding of music when put beside the kirov dancers. Dramatically, she is flat as overnight coca cola. As soon as there anything resembling a storyline in a dance, she makes me fall asleep.

actor001 Says:

Feb 23, 2009 - This video makes me thing...Ballet in the past:The ballerina being kitri Ballet Nowdays:The ballerina just dancing kitri.and this applies in all the different ballets and characters

vstasov Says:

May 10, 2009 - Absolutely beautiful, warm and lovely presence. Thank you so much for this powerful documentary.
