Apr 18, 2010 - Volcanoes emit a variety of gases including H2O, CO2, SO2, HCl, NH3, H2S, HF. These gases interact rapidly with the ash particles of a volcanic plume and especially atmospheric water to form acidic aerosols. Volcanic ash may therefore contain potentially harmful substances in the form of water-soluble materials, mostly acids and salts, which cling to the particles of glass and crystals. The most common are sulphate, chloride, sodium, calcium, potassium, magnesium and fluoride.

Apr 18, 2010 - @Dajida We should slap the volcanoes around the world with carbon emission tax. That will show them.........

Apr 20, 2010 - @Dajida oh the ignorance.
Dajida Says:
Apr 21, 2010 - @bft2310 Ignorance is thinking that CO2 put into the atmosphere by man is significantly different than CO2 put into the atmosphere by natural events. The only difference is the altitude where it gets put out.Cover-your-carbon-track alarmists must look at these videos and then immediately grab the bottle of zanax, to help hold back the wave of depression at the thought of nature destroying herself, or some other irrational nonsense...
bft2310 Says:
Apr 21, 2010 - @Dajida I don't think the CO2 volcanoes produce is different from CO2 released by people burning carbon sinks. The difference is that the C in fossil fuels and other C sinks (e.g. rainforests) shouldn't be released, ie. if it is released there are disastrous consequences. Volcanoes releasing CO2 and other gasses is a totally natural event that isn't harmful for the atmosphere in terms of keeping it stable - after all, we need CO2 for life. Nature doesn't destroy herself, it replenishes itself.
Dajida Says:
Apr 21, 2010 - @bft2310 Ok, so you admit that humans pumping CO2 into the atmosphere is no better or worse than volcanoes doing it. Thank you.
bft2310 Says:
Apr 21, 2010 - @Dajida there is no 'better' or 'worse' about it. Humans destroying the atmosphere and what it supports is BAD. Volcanoes being naturally active and NOT destroying ecosystems is NOT bad. Besides, we all owe our lives to volcanoes so what are you complaining about.
PlayboyHZ Says:
Apr 23, 2010 - @Dajida Your brain really is big.. We cant do anything about what the earth does, but we do something about humans belching CO2 in the atmosphere.. Are you blaming the earth?? Haha, sounds like you do
